Canada

What an amazing place
Every hilltop glistening with ice
Mountain upon mountain of breathtaking views
Clouds hanging on to valleys, amazing sights
stop the car I need to see that too
water, rivers lakes everywhere
snow on the ground chill in the air
will my photos be true as my head
one more, two more, through the windscreen,
out the side window of the train
drizzling rain on the windowpane
never enough is my plan
pretty fairies sparkling
on hissing waterfalls snaking, hissing spitting
one more memory from the train.

Hemlines

Why can’t hemlines be straight

What is this new idea of late

The hem is up a little then down

Then around to the side like clown

I like the hem to be perfectly straight

Fashion goes round and round as

The years flash by now

The look is up then it is down or short and feisty

Or more

Like a clown

Why can’t hemlines be

Straight up

And down

Gift

A Gift to be opened is a pleasure

Be it large or small light or heavy

Carefully opened patiently

Do I guess what it is

Endless paper and sticky tape

Fun fun and expectant joy

Glee is like a bubble of soap

Help me get this paper off quick

I can do it in a tick

I am back at blogging university having a go at poetry this time. We have to write a poem about screens today using haiku or alliteration. The following is my first pathetic hopefully poetic effort!

Screens

screens and screens and screens
iphone, iPad and Kindle
please leave us in peace

The Lonely tree

Every week at the single tree

He hoped to catch a glimpse

She never turned her head just stared

Mournful was her glance

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

I’ll make you sing with glee

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

She sighed a deep pathetic sigh

Sadness made her weep

Oh my goodness she does pine

What has caused her grief

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

I’ll make you sing with glee

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

He placed himself so she could see

the kindness on his face

I’ll do no harm if I sit here

Relax for now with me

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

I’ll make you sing with glee

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

Her eyes softly lowered she glanced up at me

Her grief was too much to bear

Maybe tomorrow at the single tree

Will you sit here by me

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

I’ll make you sing with glee

Please speak to me pretty lady dear

Faces

Take a moment to think about family

A sea of faces, old and young

Remember how proud we were to share our stories

of children growing

and growing children sharing our stories

our confidence growing as our children’s faces shine

and our children’s faces shine with growing confidence

shining proud family faces confidently sharing stories

of growing children in a sea of faces
