When I write I’m in another world, the fairytale world of the bride and groom who have asked me to be their celebrant. They have described to me how they visualised their ceremony and we start piecing together the stories, vows and readings they want included. A lot of couples have no idea what they want so I usually ask them if there was a marriage ceremony that they had attended that they really enjoyed, and why? We talk about music and how to include special people in their lives. Have they thought about witnesses, how excited would Mum or grandma be if they were asked to be witnesses instead of automatically asking members of the bridal party. Maybe you could include your children in the vows. I ask a lot of questions to find out what sort of couple they are so I can write a ceremony which reflects their relationship and personality.
